RLM expands Bihar unit, appoints new office bearers

Patna, July 18 (IANS) In a significant organisational move ahead of upcoming political challenges, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), led by Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, has expanded its Bihar state unit and announced a new list of state‑level office-bearers and spokespersons on Saturday.

The appointments were made under the guidance of the party’s National President Upendra Kushwaha, as part of an effort to strengthen the organisation across the state.

The list was officially released by RLM State President and Dinara MLA Alok Kumar Singh in the presence of Upendra Kushwaha, senior party leaders, and workers.

The party said the new team reflects a balanced representation of different regions and social groups while assigning key responsibilities to experienced and energetic leaders.

According to the party leadership, the organisational expansion aims to make the RLM more active, people‑centric, and effective at the grassroots level.

The appointments are also being viewed as a strategic step to prepare the party for upcoming political and electoral challenges in Bihar.

Addressing the gathering, State President Alok Kumar Singh urged the newly appointed office bearers and spokespersons to actively promote the party’s ideology and work with honesty, dedication, and commitment to raise public issues.

He emphasised that strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and effectively communicating the party’s policies to the people would be their primary responsibility.

Party leaders expressed confidence that the revamped organisational structure would enhance the RLM’s outreach and further consolidate its presence across Bihar.

The leadership also outlined plans for upcoming organisational programmes to expand the party’s base and increase public engagement.

The Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), an ally of the NDA, contested five seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections and won four of them, emerging as one of the alliance’s better‑performing smaller partners.

Among the party’s victorious candidates was Snehlata Kushwaha, the wife of RLM National President Upendra Kushwaha, who secured a seat in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

Meanwhile, Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash is serving as the Panchayati Raj Minister in the Samrat Choudhary‑led Bihar government.

However, he is currently neither a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) nor a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC).

Under Article 164(4) of the Constitution of India, a minister who is not a member of either House must secure membership within six months of being sworn in.

According to the information provided, that six‑month period has already expired, making his continuance in office a matter of constitutional and political significance.
