Chilton Refrigeration Wins CII GreenPro Award for Innovative Dual-Purpose Air Conditioner

Kochi (Kerala) [India], August 3: Chilton Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd., a Kerala-based leading manufacturer of industrial process chillers, has been honored with the prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) GreenPro Award for its patented Dual-Purpose Air Conditioner (DP-AC). The award recognizes the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation, energy efficiency, and climate solutions for future generations.

The award was presented at the 9th CII GreenPro Summit held in Pune. P. G. Chilprakash, Managing Director of Chilton Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd., received the honor from Pratik D. Bharne, Regional Director of the Central Pollution Control Board. The summit, organized by CII around the theme ‘Green Products Driving Circular, Decarbonized Value Chain’, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts.

Chilton’s DP-AC is a patented innovation that uses an advanced Waste Heat Recovery system to produce hot water alongside air conditioning while significantly lowering electricity consumption. Instead of releasing waste heat from the condenser into the atmosphere, the system captures and reuses it to generate hot water at zero additional energy cost, delivering both economic and environmental advantages. Chilton’s patented AC delivers up to 62% energy savings by combining ultra-efficient cooling with free hot water generation and reduces atmospheric heat rejection by 21%, thereby offering a rapid return on investment through significant long-term energy savings.

This milestone further solidifies Chilton’s position as a pioneer in sustainable HVAC technology. It reflects the company’s vision to transform traditional cooling systems into energy-efficient climate solutions that lower environmental impact and support India’s sustainability goals.

Receiving the CII GreenPro Award is a proud milestone for Chilton, said P. G. Chilprakash, Managing Director of Chilton Refrigeration. “This is an acknowledgment of our commitment to developing engineering solutions that deliver both business value and positive environmental impact. If even 1% of the air conditioners sold in India annually adopt the DP-AC system, the nation can save 68.77 crore units of electricity per year and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 5.84 lakh tonnes. As India advances toward its net-zero targets, we remain dedicated to building technologies that contribute to a circular, decarbonized future”, he said.
